Seasons Greatings
by
Corporate Club
on Mon 22 Dec 2008 03:22 PM GMT
In this troubled year for the financial community and many other people we hope that the leaders of the leading countries make the right decisions that makes 2009 more prosperous than 2008, CCI believes that the stock markets are now close to bottoming out and the continuos change of the major western countries to service based economies will with the sharp reductions in interest rates lead to a much quicker revival than most of the financial experts are predicting.
Corporate Club International would like to offer all our members, partners & readers a merry christmas & and happy new year.

Luxury Travel & The Global Economic Crisis
by
Corporate Club
on Thu 13 Nov 2008 12:52 PM GMT
As the global economy struggles, stocks tumble and banks merge amid the most formidable financial crisis in years after Lehman Brothers filed for the biggest bankruptcy in history, the global luxury travel industry is having to work even harder to keep to its clients’ demanding standards.
Yet, despite the major economic challenges facing UK and US consumers throughout 2008, it appears that the luxury travel industry continues to thrive.
Indeed, many see the current downturn as an opportunity for the upmarket travel agent to focus on their key clients. Matthew Upchurch, CEO of influential travel network Virtuoso is one; in his latest column in Luxury Travel (August/September issue, www.luxurytravelmagazine.co.uk), he says that the “new challenge facing us is how to build relationships that people are willing to pay for, particularly in a period of economic slowdown.”
In selling the value of the relationship, it’s key that travel professionals serve the affluent, not the rich, he argues, as there is a vast mindset difference between the two groups. The former have trusted advisers, professionals with whom they collaborate and pay for advice and wisdom; “you are part of a team, appreciated, respected and an expert in lifestyle.” The rich, however, may view fees as the cost of doing business, “thereby making you expendable.”
Some savvy travel providers are making positive changes to meet consumer demands. For example, Rothschild Safaris, a travel company specializing in bespoke African safaris, continues to send clients to Africa on luxury safaris, but timing and budget now play a more prominent role more than ever before. "Throughout 2008 we have continued to send our clients on custom African safaris, however budget was more of a consideration during the planning process," said Leora Rothschild, president of Rothschild Safaris.
"When planning luxury safaris, we've had to be a little more creative regarding transport and accommodations. We are mixing the very high-end properties in Southern Africa with more intimate four-star properties and increasingly we are rearranging itineraries to make use of scheduled flights vs. private charters,” she adds.
Additionally, the company says it is booking significantly more last-minute travel to Africa than ever before. “Historically, our clients planned safaris at least 12 months in advance, but it's not uncommon to receive inquiries only two months in advance these days. Our luxury travel clientele rely on our first hand knowledge now more than ever as we plan these custom African safaris." Perhaps signalling that today’s luxury travellers are in need of a little relaxation and more of a break from the depressing economic news, Rothschild safaris has seen an increase in "Bush and Beach" custom African safaris for 2009. While the big game of Africa has always been the main attraction, Rothschild Safaris is increasingly incorporating beaches such as the Lamu archipelago in Kenya, the Seychelles and Zanzibar.

Cannes & Monaco Yacht Shows
by
Corporate Club
on Tue 24 Jun 2008 02:38 PM BST
Corporate Club International will be attending and covering the Cannes & Monaco Yacht Show's for the 5th year, we will hold VIP reception's during the event for our exlcusive members and guests, we shall cover the show on our website and produce a special edition of our Corporate Club International news on both events to be sent out on the eve of the show's with hard copies distributed during these fabulous yachting festivals.
From the 24th to the 27th of September 2008, the leading companies of the luxury yachting sector will return to Port Hercules for the 18th Monaco Yacht Show.
Seven months before its next edition, the show is already sold-out thanks to an impressive repeat exhibitor rate as well as new requests for the few stands that were available in early January.
International luxury yachting industry professionals are not mistaken in positioning the MYS as the world's leading super yacht show which attracts a global high-end professional and private clientele: 500 exhibitors and 28,000 participants are expected for 2008.
With a rapidly expanding market in recent years, participating in the show has become a must for industry leaders and therefore so has the demand for berths, notably for the biggest yachts.
The MYS accurately reflects the evolution of this sector: in 2007, the show presented an exceptional fleet of 97 super yachts up to 90 meters , with a record average length of 42 meters and 40 world première launches. Plus, some fifty yachts anchored in the Monaco bay. The 2008 edition promises to be just as exceptional!

ILTM Industry report
by
Corporate Club
on Thu 13 Dec 2007 09:06 AM GMT
Corporate Club International recently attended the ILTM conference held in Cannes, you will find below extracts of the special ILTM report, also attached in a download format is the ILTM report in full.
The luxury traveller
Who are the luxury, high-end travellers? And how can they be identified? The latest edition of the annual World Wealth Report from Merrill Lynch and Capgemini, puts the number of High Net Worth Individuals (HNWIs)1 worldwide at 9.5 million in 2006 (+8.3% over the level recorded in 2005). The total assets of these HNWIs, meanwhile, are estimated at US$37.2 trillion (+11.4%).
The 2007 report shows that global wealth has continued to become more concentrated – a trend seen over the eleven years since the first World Wealth Report was published, with the assets of the world’s wealthiest individuals accumulating at a much faster rate than the growth of the overall HNWI population. The Middle East is the notable exception.
The wealth gains of HNWIs outpaced the growth in the numbers of HNWIs by more than three percentage points in 2006. Gains were particularly strong in Latin America, Africa and Asia Pacific, where 2006 HNWI wealth grew by 23.2%, 14.0% and 10.5%, respectively, thanks to record prices in the commodities industries that flourish in these regions. In the Middle East, total HNWI wealth grew by 11.7% in 2006, while the overall HNWI population grew by 11.9%, which suggests a slight dispersion of wealth in this part of the world.
World wealth is largely driven by the Ultra-HNWIs
The continued growth of HNWI wealth has largely been driven by the world’s wealthiest individuals, according to Merrill Lynch/Capgemini – the Ultra-HNWIs2. In 2006, the number of Ultra-HNWIs grew by 11.3% to total 94,970. Total accumulated wealth for this elite group also increased last year, by an impressive 16.8%, to US$13.1 trillion – around 30% of the global total – another sign that world wealth is rapidly consolidating among this ultra-wealthy segment.
The developed world continues to dominate the ranks of the world’s rich. Some two thirds (64%) of HNWIs live in the USA, Japan, Germany, the UK, or France, with 30% in the USA alone.

Corporate/Private jet boom
by
Corporate Club
on Wed 24 Oct 2007 09:56 PM BST
The corporate private-jet boom is soaring to new heights with Honeywell, the American aerospace group that is a key supplier, saying orders are up 100% and forecasting record sales for the next decade.
“Industry growth has moved into unparalleled territory,” said Rob Wilson, president of business and general aviation at Honeywell Aerospace, which makes engines and avionics for business jets. He expects deliveries of business jets to exceed 1,000 this year for the first time, up from 861 aircraft delivered last year.
Manufacturers in the first half of this year achieved more than 900 orders, 100% up on the same period last year, and Honeywell forecasts that 14,000 aircraft equivalent to the world’s entire fleet today will be delivered in the next decade. That market will be worth $233 billion (£114 billion).
Such is the demand for large, long-range jets like the Dassault Falcon 7X and Bombardier Global Express that there are delays of up to six years for delivery.
Honeywell reported a solid base of demand from fractional ownership companies like NetJets, but said its total share of sales would fall because of high demand from traditional business operators and start-up air-taxi firms.

Dubai Goes Corporate
by
Corporate Club
on Sat 20 Jan 2007 11:17 AM GMT
Joachim Cronquist has now been appointed official representative for Corporate Club International in Dubai, together with the Corporate Club & Corporate Club China and our extensive coverage and attendance at many events in the Riviera & Monaco, we now feel that Corporate Club International have strong bases in the most succesful and glamorous destinations in the world, this will enable us to further increase our exclusive membership.
Today, Dubai is an important tourist destination and port (Jebel Ali). It is developing as a hub for service industries such as IT and finance, with the new Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC).
The government has set up industry-specific free zones throughout the city. Dubai Internet City, now combined with Dubai Media City as part of TECOM (Dubai Technology, Electronic Commerce and Media Free Zone Authority) is one such enclave whose members include IT firms such as EMC Corporation, Oracle Corporation, Microsoft, and IBM, and media organisations such as MBC, CNN, Reuters, ARY and AP. Dubai Knowledge Village (KV) is an education and training hub is also set up to complement the Free Zones other two clusters, Dubai Internet City and Dubai Media City, by providing the facilities to train the clusters' future knowledge workers.
The property boom is driven by mega-projects, whether off-shore such as The Palm and The World or inland such as Dubai Marina, the Burj Dubai Complex, Business Bay and Dubailand. The government's decision to diversify from a trade-based but oil-reliant economy to one that is service-and tourism-oriented has made real estate more valuable, resulting in the property boom from 2004-2006. Construction on a large scale has turned Dubai into one of the fastest growing cities in the world, equalled only by the large Chinese cities.
